Niall Quinn press conference; ENGLAND: Sunderland: INT Niall Quinn (New Sunderland Manager) press conference SOT - The situation is that I am the chairman of the football club, events seeing me become manager have arisen because we couldn't have been more ambitious trying to get world class manager at the club - but we can't get them to come down a division / Have to stop slide club is on.got to turn a corner and gather momentum upwards / Then we can approach a manager who is worthy to manage this great club / With backing of fans who will understand what is happening, will know we are ambitious, have to get passion going - Three months ago we felt confident, but now we feel we need someone with inside knowledge - I fit in to that category, I was here when things went well, I know what's required / Talks about Bobby Saxon - played significant role, want him to do exact same thing, scientific approach - injury prevention / I've studied scientific approach to training methods, but relying on heart and passion - I am relishing it, job I have to do is achievable / Got to stop the slide, now I can go out and sign players / Today the slide has stopped, time to turn the corner / I know enough about what makes this club good or bad, implement standards, set targets, game is on / They've been superb pre-season, fitness has improved / I can promise attacking football, want to see goals in the Stadium of Light / We'll bring passion, commitment, desire - hope fans connect and give us support we need - Most important thing is to identify areas we need improvement in, talks about individual players / Game is on and we've just got to deal with it
