General Election 2010: Plaid Cymru manifesto launch; ***SOME FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY*** Ieuan Wyn Jones (Plaid Cymru leader) speech SOT - welcome in Welsh and in English - election is being fought against backdrop of worst economic crisis for 60 years - Labour's mismanagement of economy and Tory duplicity in deregulating of the banks will lead to introduction of massive cuts in public spending - this election will be fought on priorities and values which are brought to process of addressing these cuts - it is about process of protecting the vulnerable particularly pensioners and children and protesting the frontline services on which we all depend - schools and hospitals and making sure those resources are targetted at jobs and training - in the course of this campaign we will be contrasting those values of looking after the vulnerable and protecting frontline services against the priorities set out by Labour and Conservatives who are prepared, even in these times of financial difficulties, to keep spending on nuclear weapons and ID cards (applause) - in this campaign we have decided to make important but costed proposals in our manifesto based around 7 key policy areas - they reflect Plaid's values and priorities aimed at protecting our communities in Wales from worst impact of he spending cuts - it looks increasingly likely that we will see a balanced parliament after this election, polls show this is most likely outcome - in these circumstances we want to secure best deal for people of Wales / this campaign is stripping away the veneer of Wales based policy making the other parties claim to have developed - Plaid Cymru is only party that can offer distinctive programme for Wales in Westminster with experience of being in govt in Wales - today we want to outline some key manifesto commitments - there are 7 costed and worked out / they are practical ways to ensure the UK tackles the deficit, protects the most vulnerable and progresses the task of devo...
