The submarine torpedo board, L.I., the largest of its kind ever built for the United States, launched at the Fore River Shipbuilding Yards at Quincy, Massachusetts on January 20, 1915. Mrs. Elizabeth Scott Daubin, wife of Lieutenant Freeland A. Daubin, commander of the boat, christened the vessel.
