Liverpool Overhead railway 1957
The dismantling of the Liverpool Overhead Railway. The railway stretched from as far as Dingle in the south to Seaforth & Litherland.Demolition in the North. Demolition of the structure commenced on 23 September 1957, and all 80 acres of elevated track were removed by January the following year. This picture was taken at Herculaneum Dock where 250 feet sections of the upper steel structure have been removed. Picture dated: 26th September 1957.
