PHILIPPINES-VOLCANO

The clear summit of Mount Bulusan volcano in Sorsogon province shows a little steam and huge deposits of ash and volcanic materials in this aerial observation photo taken from a Philippine Air Force helicopter 12 June 2006. The volcano located 600 kilometers (370 miles) southeast of Manila, exploded six times since it spewed ash last 21 March 2006. Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has noted the increasing frequency in ash emissions and expects more explosions to occur and warned that volcanic deposits on the slopes of the mountain could turn into "life-threatening volcanic flows."
