WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA - MARCH 26: A statue of Sam Nujoma, the Namibian revolutionary, anti-apartheid activist and politician who served three terms as the first President of Namibia (from 1990 to 2005), stands in front of the Independence Memorial Museum in Windhoek, Namibia, on March 26, 2019. On the statue's pedestal, the following inscription can be read: "Namibia is forever free, sovereign and independent. Sam Nujoma - 21st March 1990. Dr. Sam Nujoma founding president and father of the Namibian nation." The Independence Museum focuses on the anti-colonial resistance and the national liberation struggle of Namibia, and was inaugurated on March 21, 2014, the twenty-fourth anniversary of independence of the country.
