Billy barr reclusive mountain man has taken daily records of snow fall for over 45 years.

The 67 year old has logged notebooks full of snow levels, temperatures and animal migration observations since 1972 providing a critical look at the areas long-term environmental and climate change trends. He takes meticulous daily records from his fully solar-powered cabin deep in the woods outside of Crested Butte in the small town of Gothic. barr has a year's supply of food, grows as much as he can and has a 2 year supply of firewood.
