EGYPTE, SCENE D'ALLAITEMENT

Egypt: Roman mammisi at the temple of Hathor in Dendara. On the outside sandstone wall of the proanos, the goddess Hathor breast-feeds her son Ithy, who seems quite big for a baby. Despite a heap of bodily detail, of clothing and jewelry, the artist brought out the essential subject. Sur le mur extérieur en grès du pronaos, la déesse Hathor allaite son fils Ihy, qui semble bien grand pour un nourrisson. Malgré un amoncellement de détails corporels, d'éléments de coiffure, de bijoux et de vêtements , l'artiste a mis en valeur l'essentiel du sujet. Par la rigueur des lignes de force du dessin, il montre avec clarté l'interdépendance de la mère et de l'enfant ainsi que la tendresse du geste. Epoque gréco-romaine.
