Plymouth's team of women navvies, formed six years ago to give pick and shovel treatment to bombed houses, have completed their blitz-time by the demolition of a bombed house entirely by themselves. They've always worked side by side with men before, but, with one of their team of six acting as supervisor, they did this job alone. Youngest navy is 18-year-old Barbara Worth; oldest is Mrs. Florence Palmer, 57, mother of eight and grandmother of six. They love the work and will and will continue as an all-women gang in future. The Plymouth girls are really good in fact they bring the house down! The six women navvies at work on their first job without men to help.
