Ecological activists fear that the country's pristine rivers could be devastated by dozens of planned small-scale plants and warn against their far-reaching negative impact while the situation is, they say, the most critical in Karlovac, the "Town on Four Rivers". There, the Korona river is threatened by a hydro-electric project denounced by environmentalists.
