(Original Caption) Olympic bronze medalist John Carlos (center, checkered hat), who was banished from the U.S. team and Olympic Village after employing "black power" gestures during the playing of the U.S. National Anthem, addresses a large student rally on the campus of the predominantly Negro Howard University here, October 24th. At an earlier news conference, Carlos told newsmen that he wished those American Negroes who remained at the Olympic Games "14 years of bad leg troubles".
