Wolseley motor car, 1902.
UNITED KINGDOM - JANUARY 24: Named after Frederick Wolseley (1837-1899), the Wolseley Tool & Motor Car Company was formed in 1901. Designed by Herbert Austin (1866-1941), who then worked for Wolseley, this car was made in the companys Birmingham factory and has a Tonneau-type body and a 7 1/2 hp engine, giving it a top speed of around 30 mph. It is a typical medium sized motor car of the period. This particular model was the first car the Science Museum in London entered in the London to Brighton car run, in 1954.
