Ariadne Kane - "Transformations"

CA: 1983 - "In the last fifteen to twenty years I emerged from being a closet cross dresser to being a leader in what I call the paraculture. This coming-out process has allowed me to pursue my identity as an androgyne. Androgynes are people who take elements of conventional masculinity and femininity and blend them in a way that is unique to their personal expression. They may use props like clothes, or they may use other kinds of symbolic imagery (Transformations 1989)." This image is from the book “Transformations,” by Mariette Pathy Allen, which documents the lives of trans women and crossdressers in America in the 1970s and 80s.
