Deceased Li Xiuying Won The Lawsuit Against Japanese Writer
NANJING, CHINA - JANUARY 22: (CHINA OUT) Families of Li Xiuying, the Nanjing Massacre survivor, burn incense and written judgement of Li's lawsuit against Japanese writer, during a ceremony to commemorate Li on January 22, 2005 in Nanjing of Jiangsu Province, east China. The Supreme Court of Japan upheld a prior verdict, where Li Xiuying successfully sued right-wing Japanese writer Matsumura Toshio for defamation on Thursday. The verdict declares that Toshio will pay compensation to Li. Li Xiuying has testified in a case suing Japanese war criminals, and filed a lawsuit against author Matsumura Toshio and the publisher of a book on the Nanjing Massacre, who called her testimony of the massacre a lie. Li passed away before the decision was made, on December 4 in 2004. (Photo by China Photos/Getty Images)
