BERLIN, Germany: British newspaper magnate David Montgomery addresses employees of the Berliner Verlag in Berlin 25 October 2005. In a controversial deal announced 25 October 2005, the Berlin-based publisher Berliner Verlag, which publishes the Berliner Zeitung daily was acquired by two Anglo-Saxon investment funds, Mecom, the private equity arm of British newspaper magnate David Montgomery, and US-based fund Veronis Suhler Stevenson (VSS).
