The war hero, who died last year aged 82, is believed to be the only pilot to have received such an accolade. The pair of medals, expected to fetch up to 15,000 when sold as part of a group of 13, were awarded for the heroics Group Captain David performed while defending the British Expeditionary Force during the Battle of France in 1940. 11/5/01: A collection of 13 medals awarded to him following his heroic conduct in defence of the British Expeditionary Force during the Battle of France in 1940, are to be auctioned at Spink, in London, on behalf of the Royal Air Force and are expected to raise 10,000 - 15,000 it emerged Friday May 11, 2001.
